Colour of the Year 2014

As 2013 draws to a close we start to look at the colour of the year for 2014.. I've loved Emerald Green this year and am excited to see what Pantone choose for next years colour. The infographic below shows what some creatives think it will be and why.. what do you think it will be?

Colour of the week - Jungle Green

This weeks colour of the week is... Jungle Green!

Jungle Green is very similar to this years Pantone Colour of the Year, Emerald, but slightly brighter.

I adore blue-y greens and green-y blues, and I saw this one and couldn't wait to use it in colour palettes and new designs and share it with you all! Below are some colour palettes using Jungle Green to inspire you!

Things have been busy here lately and I've got a bit behind with creating a new design each week using colour of the week, so this week I am going to create a whole collection of designs using the past three colours; Berry, June Bud and Jungle Green. I will share the designs later in the week, so don't forget to check back!

I was browsing the Joules website and came across this lovely floral pattern on some of the Jnr Joules girlswear.

The print has lovely texture and even features colour of the year, Emerald!

Let's Fly Blog Hop

Today I am taking part in the fabulous 'Let's Fly' blog hop. More than 50 designers from across the world have come together to celebrate the start of 2013 by creating a mini design collections featuring Pantone Colour of the Year, Emerald, and based on the theme 'flying'.

I'll take a second to introduce myself; I'm Rosie, a twenty-something graphic design graduate with a passion for both graphic and surface design, and a style that incorporates both these passions. I love to work with colour and texture and combine graphic illustrations and typography to make a real feast for the eyes!

Here is a sneak peek of my working, I was inspired by how a butterfly develops into a beautiful creature and spreads it wings and flies, hand drawing all my motifs and choosing a fresh colour palette featuring Emerald.

So without further ado, I present to you my Emerald Flying inspired designs, hope you like them!

This year I have some big goals for myself; first and foremost, I want to achieve my first licensing deal. Seeing my surface pattern designs on products has always been my dream and this year I hope to make it a reality!

New NYC Inspired Designs

Today I am sharing with you a sneak peek of some new designs inspired by my recent trip to NYC..

I created the designs for MOYO magazine's second issue design brief contest, Architecture. If you haven't heard of MOYO magazine before, it's the world's only online magazine dedicated to Surface Pattern Design, made by the creators of 'The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design' Rachael Taylor and Beth Nicholls. If you love design, pattern, colour, you should definitely check it out!

Someone told me they look like the 'life line' in an emergency room.. I love idea that they represent the heartbeat of the city as well as it's architecture and skyline! I'm going to develop the designs further and in different colour palettes so expect to see more soon!

Don't forget, it's the Lets Fly bloghop TOMORROW! I, along with more than 50 international designers will be sharing new designs using Pantone Colour of the Year: Emerald! It's not to be missed!

Hello 2013!

Hello everyone! Happy New Year! I hope 2013 has been good to you all so far..

Sorry for the lack of posting recently, I can now assure you I am back and intend for 2013 to be the best year yet!

I must say I am really enjoying the fresh feeling of a new year.. after a lovely break I am feeling ready to get back to work and set goals for the year, in my freshly cleaned and tidied study.. ahh.

There is so much to share, inspiration from my recent trips, new designs, exciting features and collaborations, great new featured designers on Fridays and more!

2013 is already looking like it's going to be a great year, I love Pantone's Colour of the year - Emerald
