A much needed update

My my it's been quite a long time since my last update!

Since I finished uni I've been busy developing some of my work for my degree show, which is at London College of Communication from 29th June - 5th July, more details here

I've also been creating lots of new items for my Etsy shop iheartrosie, and working on my portfolio, website, and personal branding!

I just thought I'd do a quick round up of my finals for my degree, before sharing exciting new things!

First up - final books for the 'aesthetics of industry' project - patterns, colour, photography and maps

My favourite project of the year was working on the YCN Package the perfect M&S picnic brief
(for more photos of my fabrics for this project, read here)

Below: Fabrics in product range pattern, food and drink packaging and summer playing cards

Just quickly projects I have covered previously - Vanessa Golborn School of Dance rebrand

Now I'm off to collect together images for next blog posts! Coming soon - my new Etsy items post, my personal branding and new website, development of YCN project items for my degree show and a small freelance project I've been working on. Come back soon :)

Today I made..

Customised tees!

A family friend in Australia is due to have a baby in just a few weeks and I wanted to make something to send over for the new baby, so I customised some bodysuits! I don't know what sex the baby is so I wanted to create things that could be worn by a boy or a girl, but then my girlyness took over and I made a really girly one with a flower on!

(Please excuse the awful photos they were taken in a hurry!)

I cut out shapes from patterned fabric and sewed them on using a close zigzag stitch. This holds them on well, stops them fraying and looks nice too! I made a star using blue and white polka dot fabric, a heart using purple and white polka dot fabric and a flower using mocha floral, pink polka dot and purple polka dot fabrics.

I didn't want the older kids to feel left out so I decided I would customise some tshirts for them! I bought a grey tshirt for the boy and a purple vest for for the girl (both from h&m, the only place I could find individually sold plain kids tshirts!)

I used the same technique as with the body suits, sewing fabric shapes onto the tees. For the girls tee I chose to sew 9 hearts, all cut from different pink and purple fabrics, and for the boys tee I made 'big bro' from demin, blue polka and blue stripes!

They have come out quite well but jersey material of fabrics is hard to sew onto as it stretches a lot, hoping with a wash and an iron they will straighten out a bit!

Amy King Fabrics

I love browsing Spoonflower for wonderful fabrics. This morning I was once again browsing and rediscovered the amazing fabrics by Amy King. They are just so jolly and colourful and I absolutely love them! So I thought I would share some of her designs with you!

Below are fabrics from the Linear Love Collection, this leaves fabric is one of my favourite fabrics, EVER!
The wonderful Scream for Ice Cream fabric
In The Woods Hearts
In The Woods Apple
Dont Want To Be Fish Fingers fabric
2 fabrics from the Rainy London Collection

This final piece of fabric is not just a beautiful piece of fabric, this piece of Elephant Mobile Fabric creates the mobile shown below when cut out, stuffed and pieced together. This is such a wonderful idea and only involves simple sewing making this brilliant project accessible to all!
