Cornish mini break
I just got back from a quick trip to Cornwall, my family have a house down there and it is great to be able to pop down and enjoy some Cornish culture for a few days!
We left in such a hurry that I forgot to take my camera! It was actually nice because I didn't feel like I had to take it out every day and it made me more relaxed to look at different things and observe interesting colours, textures and patterns!
Luckily the camera on my phone is quite good and I love using Instagram so below is a collection of my favourite pictures from the trip! If you like what you see, you can follow me: rosietoesss
I'm back feeling inspired and can't wait to get back to designing! Expect to see some exciting new patterns soon!

Spoonflower introduce Wallpaper printing
Yesterday the exciting news broke that Spoonflower are now offering custom printed wallpaper and decals as well as the amazing custom printed fabric service they already provide.
I jumped straight on to the website to experience this great new service. It was like it was perfectly planned after my post yesterday where I said I could see my new design as wallpaper! So I uploaded the tile and huzzah there appeared my tile repeated and mocked up on a room setup!
And now because I promised I'd share more.. here is my new design 'Scribble flower' in green! I really love how versatile the design is, it works well at different scales and in different colours. A large scale is great for wallpaper but the design also works well at a smaller scale for example on an iPhone case (coming soon!)
Don't forget to go and check out the Spoonflower website to learn all about their new services!

Today I made..
Customised tees!
A family friend in Australia is due to have a baby in just a few weeks and I wanted to make something to send over for the new baby, so I customised some bodysuits! I don't know what sex the baby is so I wanted to create things that could be worn by a boy or a girl, but then my girlyness took over and I made a really girly one with a flower on!
(Please excuse the awful photos they were taken in a hurry!)
I cut out shapes from patterned fabric and sewed them on using a close zigzag stitch. This holds them on well, stops them fraying and looks nice too! I made a star using blue and white polka dot fabric, a heart using purple and white polka dot fabric and a flower using mocha floral, pink polka dot and purple polka dot fabrics.
I didn't want the older kids to feel left out so I decided I would customise some tshirts for them! I bought a grey tshirt for the boy and a purple vest for for the girl (both from h&m, the only place I could find individually sold plain kids tshirts!)
I used the same technique as with the body suits, sewing fabric shapes onto the tees. For the girls tee I chose to sew 9 hearts, all cut from different pink and purple fabrics, and for the boys tee I made 'big bro' from demin, blue polka and blue stripes!

They have come out quite well but jersey material of fabrics is hard to sew onto as it stretches a lot, hoping with a wash and an iron they will straighten out a bit!
