Preparing for the holiday season

The holiday season is a very busy time for sellers on Etsy so I am starting to prepare myself and my shop(s) for the busy period and using this quiet summer period to add lots of exciting new products, both gifty and holiday season related, and hopefully open a new shop!

My current Etsy shop, iheartrosie, sells fabric items. Braided fabric bracelets, fabric hearts keyrings and other fabric items, such as fabric christmas trees and stars. There are also super cute friendship bracelets! Many items that would make great gifts this holiday season! (I'm cringing a little bit saying that in July, but there we go!)

I'm currently working on new bracelet colours and styles, and special holiday items, plush fabric christmas trees, stars and hearts, plush fabric christmas tree garlands and other nice things!

Here's a sneak peek of some of the fabrics I'm using for the christmas collection!

I've also been working on items for a new paper based shop where I hope to sell my own designs as prints and greetings cards. It's starting to come together so I will be able to share that with you soon!

Here's a little sneak peek of some of the things I've been working on! Let me know what you think!

I love packaging!

It's been a bit of a crap week (yep, I know, it's only Tuesday) Our boiler keeps breaking which when it's freezing (literally) outside, isn't cool. And I have so much to do, I can't be doing with the faff of getting the plumbers out for about the 20th time since we moved in.

But today I received this in the post and it really cheered me up!

I love the amount of thought and effort Etsy sellers put into their packages! So I thought I'd share a few photos of the wonderful products and packaging from The Petite Package.

I love how cute it all is! How its all packaged up so nicely and she has included a handwritten note and business card inside a little envelope!

The business card holders are for part of my dissolvable umbrella project, and the twine is to make some pretty Christmas garlands!

Today I made..

Customised tees!

A family friend in Australia is due to have a baby in just a few weeks and I wanted to make something to send over for the new baby, so I customised some bodysuits! I don't know what sex the baby is so I wanted to create things that could be worn by a boy or a girl, but then my girlyness took over and I made a really girly one with a flower on!

(Please excuse the awful photos they were taken in a hurry!)

I cut out shapes from patterned fabric and sewed them on using a close zigzag stitch. This holds them on well, stops them fraying and looks nice too! I made a star using blue and white polka dot fabric, a heart using purple and white polka dot fabric and a flower using mocha floral, pink polka dot and purple polka dot fabrics.

I didn't want the older kids to feel left out so I decided I would customise some tshirts for them! I bought a grey tshirt for the boy and a purple vest for for the girl (both from h&m, the only place I could find individually sold plain kids tshirts!)

I used the same technique as with the body suits, sewing fabric shapes onto the tees. For the girls tee I chose to sew 9 hearts, all cut from different pink and purple fabrics, and for the boys tee I made 'big bro' from demin, blue polka and blue stripes!

They have come out quite well but jersey material of fabrics is hard to sew onto as it stretches a lot, hoping with a wash and an iron they will straighten out a bit!

I love post!

I love receiving things in the post! Particularly surprises but also pretty things that I have bought and then forget are coming!

On Saturday I found this lovely arrival in my letterbox! I bought these lovely kraft heart stickers from Knot & Bow on Etsy and it was so exciting to open them, the envelope was addressed beautifully and sealed with a gold heart sticker, and then inside there was a brown paper bag hand printed with Knot & Bow's logo, again sealed with a gold heart sticker.

It took a while to open as I admired each layer as I went along, and the product did not disappoint, the set of stickers were beautifully designed and packaged inside. Below are a few pictures of the wonderful packaging and stickers.

Now to find some good places to stick my beautiful stickers!

New iheartrosie product photographs

Recently I have made quite few new keyrings which now need listing on Etsy, and to list them I need some good photos of them. Good photos make all the different to how people view your products, they need to be clean and light and shot to show the product as best you can.

Most of the items shown below are listed in my Etsy shop iheartrosie, the ones that are not will be listed within the next few days, and if you want a customised piece please contact me!

Below is the floral trio, three keyrings made using Tanya Whelan 'Darla Rose' in white, blue and pink. It is also available in yellow and green.

This next keyring is made using 'Weekends' by Erin McMorris, also for Freespirit, like the Tanya Whelan fabrics above.. (I have just realised how many Freespirit fabrics I have in my collection!)

Another Tanya Whelan fabric, from her new collection, Delilah, this one is called ROSIE! I only just found out and now I love it even more than I did before!

This is a vintage fabric that I inherited when my uncle's mother died and I helped to clear out her house. She had bags and bags of lovely fabrics, some of which I have now added to my collection. I would have taken more but I just don't have the space!

Yet another Tanya Whelan fabric, this time from the 'French Hatbox' collection, I also have this in blue!

I can't actually tell you what this fabric is, I bought it from John Lewis earlier in the year but it has no markings on to tell you the name, designer or even manufacturer.. so it will remain the mysterious blue, green, purple leaf fabric!

This last fabric is another of my inherited collection, originally a pillowcase, I have upcycled it to make new products. I like to give old fabrics a new lease of life!

I have learnt from this post that I own A LOT of Tanya Whelan fabrics, but there are so many more beautiful ones out there and now I want those too! If you want to find out more about Tanya Whelan and her fabric collections for FreeSpirit, you can check out their website here!

Just found..

This.

I designed this motif a couple of months ago but forgot to ever post it.

It was just when I was thinking about good designs for screenprinting that I remembered this so decided to dig it out and post it! I'm going to try and screenprint it soon as I think it would work really well..

Below is the motif I created..

I then realised the motif would work well in reverse colour..

And also in a 9x9 repeat, I used 9 different colours..

9 pink hearts..

9 turquoise hearts..

And finally the 9x9 repeat in reverse purple colour way..

Going to put this on my USB so I'm ready to print it when given time!
